let’s talk : WHY I JOINED eXp REALTY

Good morning!

So I have been HINTING to you all for awhile now that I was going to activate my New York real estate license. Well guess what? I FINALLY DID. I have officially joined eXp Realty and will be serving the Brooklyn and Long Island City market. Let me tell you about WHY I decided eXp Realty was the best place for me!

So, as we do, let’s talk Real Estate, let’s talk WHY I JOINED eXp REALTY…

I want to start off by saying I looked at a TON of different brokerages before making this decision. Even went so far as to talk to agents at various brokerages, check out their offices, etc. Ultimately, there were SO MANY reasons as to why I felt eXp made the most sense for ME. Let me share with you a few of them!

IT IS A VIRTUAL BROKERAGE

I have spent the past year connecting and learning from all of you ONLINE, and I have LOVED that. I have met contractors, realtors, buyers, sellers, expediters, etc ALL ONLINE and I feel as though it has served me well. I love the idea that we can be anywhere in the world, at any time of the day, and still network, and do business with each other. The world is going (kind of is already) VIRTUAL. It only makes sense (in my opinion) to get ahead of the times, and conduct business in the virtual world as well.

THE RESOURCES

eXp Realty has a program called eXpWorld with a TON of training and support all quickly accessible through your virtual work world. The other day I was having issues with my  website and was able to log into eXpWorld and “walk” (virtually) to the Agent Onboarding office to discuss the matter – the issue was resolved within 5 minutes! ON TOP OF THAT, they also have a Mentorship program for new agents. It is not just like a “oh here is your mentor email them and they will help you”. No, these mentors become super invested in your success. Why?! Because the program is set up in such a way, that your success is their success. Basically, if you are a new agent, with no experience, you can sign up for the mentorship program. Your mentor will be there to help you find leads and followthrough on transactions. They are your set mentor for your first 3 transactions. In return, your split is a bit different. While in the program, your split is 60/40, where your mentor gets a 10% cut of that 40% the company is paid. The other 10% goes to continuing education for the program. Like I said, they make your success their success! I have already had multiple phone calls with my mentor, and am meeting him in person for the first time this Thursday! ON TOP OF THAT, you also have a sponsor. Mine is Gogo Bethke #teamgogo – I will tell you more about her later! Being new to the real estate agent world, I need ALL of the help I can get right now, so the training and support was SUPER attractive to me.

THE FEES

At eXp Realty – the fees are fairly straight forward. There is an 80/20 split with a $16,000 cap. So what does that mean? That means, once I have paid eXp $16,000 in  their 20% commission split – I GET TO KEEP 100% of ANY commission after I hit that mark for that year. Oh, also on top of that, they work other incentives in there so that you can earn company stock. I am sorry but I did not see ANY other brokerages who did that.

MULTIPLE INCOME STREAMS

Ever hear Warren Buffet’s famous quote, “If you don’t find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work until you die.”? Okay so a TON of my friends, honestly even my family, get annoyed when I say this quote BUT I BELIEVE we should ALL have multiple sources of income. Most millionaires have roughly 7 sources of income. Now, I know what some of you may ask me based in your personal situations – “Why would I need multiple sources of income if my primary income makes me enough money to live comfortably!?”  Also, “Why is the girl who quit her primary job a year ago lecturing me on making money?” Okay both are fair points, do NOT take this as a lecture, or me telling you to go out there and get 7 jobs, this is me merely sharing my opinion on why I BELIEVE having multiple sources of income is pertinent. The 7 sources of income typically include;

1. Earned Income

2. Profit Income

3. Interest Income

4. Dividend Income

5. Rental Income

6. Capital Gains Income

7. Royalty Income

And GUESS WHAT?! eXp Realty provides me with 3 of those!

So what are they?

1. Earned Income through  Commission

2. Dividend Income  through Stock incentives

3. “Royalty Income” through the eXp Revenue Share Program. Honestly this program does not really truly fit in the “Royalty Income” bucket BUT it is another source of income AND these 7 streams of income are not hard fast sources you MUST have. These are just sources you CAN have.

SO WHO DID I REACH OUT TO BEFORE JOINING?!

Gogo Bethke. Gogo Bethke is in the top 3% of realtors in the nation AND she is now also my eXp sponsor – woo! She lives in the state of Michigan but that distance is NO BARRIER AT ALL when it comes to her helping me in my real estate goals. So you’re probably thinking – how in the world did you find her?! INSTAGRAM – I know SHOCKER. Gogo is KILLING it in the world of social media. I had followed her story for a while before reaching out and decided one day to DM her on Instagram and ask her about her experience as an agent. She replied IMMEDIATELY and offered to hop on a quick call right away. You guys, she has almost 28,000 followers and replied within like 2 minutes. I was SO SHOCKED and instantly had a bit of a “holy crap she’s a celebrity” moment but she was super sweet and walked me through why she joined eXp and how she had felt about working there.
